Sarim has a lot going on from the start. Perks, slayer keys, achievements, plugins, collection logs, and a boss waiting for you at the end. This page covers the most important things to do on your first day and why each one matters.

First perkSkilled Ranger or Speedy Strikes

Both boost attack speed. Pick the one that matches your combat style.

Best early incomeWilderness Slayer

Normal slayer keys plus Larran's keys for solid early supply drops.

Free perk pointsAchievements + Clue scrolls

Both reward perk points you can spend on more perk slots.

First boss targetArgentavis

Farm for the Superior Potion. It boosts combat to 126 at 99 and is needed for a later upgrade.

Pick your first perk

When you log in for the first time, your first task is claiming a perk. Two good options for new players:

  • Skilled Ranger if you plan to use ranged combat. Increases ranged attack speed.
  • Speedy Strikes if melee is your preference. Same idea, different style.

You can view all available perks through the Sarim Perks plugin. Perk changes can only be made while you are at home, so pick something you will use and move on. More perk slots open up as you earn Lifetime Perk Points.

Start slayer

Head to a Slayer Master once you have your perk. Wilderness Slayer is a strong choice early on. It gives you the normal slayer keys you would get from standard slayer, plus Larran's keys on top of that. Both key types drop supplies, and the extra income from Larran's keys gives you a noticeable head start.

If you would rather avoid the Wilderness, any Slayer Master works. The keys from standard slayer alone are still a decent supply source early on.

Do achievements

Achievement Diaries and Combat Diaries both reward perk points when you complete them. Perk points are how you unlock additional perk slots, and more slots mean more flexibility in how you build your account.

You do not need to grind achievements in isolation. Work through them alongside your slayer tasks and they will complete naturally. Check the list regularly so you know what is close to done.

Vote daily

Type ::vote in-game to open the voting page. Voting rewards you with vote boxes and a raffle ticket for the Daily Raffle. Takes about a minute and is worth doing every day.

Collect clue scrolls

Clue scrolls on Sarim auto-complete when you open them. No puzzle solving required. The items inside can be broken down into upgrade materials, which you will need for the next step.

Clue scrolls also feed your collection log. Each unique collection log entry you hit counts toward perk point milestones. Reaching 100 unique unlocks, for example, gives 40 bonus perk points on top of the standard rewards. Keep opening clues.

Put Quick Step on your boots

Use the upgrade materials from clue scrolls to add the Quick Step upgrade to whatever boots you are wearing. It passively earns agility XP while you run around doing other things. As your agility level climbs, shortcuts start opening up across the map, which saves time and occasionally saves your run.

Work toward 90 Slayer

A good medium-term goal is 90 Slayer. At that level you can kill Dark Beasts, which drop the Dark Bow. With the Skilled Ranger perk active, the Dark Bow does strong damage and becomes a solid ranged weapon for bossing.

Collection log rewards

Beyond the perk point milestones, the collection log has dedicated rewards that boost your account as you fill it out. Check the reward list so you know what you are working toward. The grind is more engaging when you can see what is coming next.

Plugins to know

Sarim ships with three custom plugins. They are installed with the client and available from the plugin panel.

  • Sarim Perks - opens your perk menu. You can read through the full perk list or check which perks you have active. Changes only take effect at home.
  • Sarim Hub - teleports to bosses, minigames, raids, and other NPCs. Has a built-in drop table viewer. Also shows your Daily Tasks and lets you claim the rewards when they are done.
  • Sarim Shops - access shop inventories from a single interface without running around to different shopkeepers.

Read your Daily Tasks in the Hub each time you log in. They rotate regularly and the rewards add up quickly.

First boss: Argentavis

Argentavis is a good first boss target. It has a small drop table focused on unique items:

  • Superior Potion - the main item to go for. At 99 combat it boosts your combat stats to 126. It is also required for an upgrade path later on.
  • Merlin's Cloak
  • Argentavis Feather
  • Ring of AoE

The Superior Potion is the priority. Farm Argentavis until you have it, then move on to the next stage of progression.
